Missions Statement

The Chisme Collective was born from a deep dissatisfaction with the local news landscape. We are a grassroots news organization dedicated to confirming chisme that is important to marginalized chismosos (chismosxs).

Chisme — Spanish for “gossip” — can be storytelling for defense; it can be a political act of resistance when we do it with integrity and in service of our community’s well being.

Chisme among people we trust is the only safe way to talk about private issues, so we aim to validate the experiences of chismosos (chismosxs) and ensure that important stories are communicated to defend ourselves from harm.
